Description
Looks like normal underwear. That’s the whole point.
Nothing about this brief announces itself. It is a soft, high-waisted, matte black pair of underwear that sits in your drawer and goes on the line with the rest of your washing — exactly like the ones you already own. The difference is on the inside.

Four thin layers, one job
- Stay-dry lining – soft fabric that lets moisture pass straight through to the core, so the surface you feel stays dry.
- Absorbent core – takes in the leak quickly: a sneeze, a laugh, a jump, a cough.
- Leak-proof barrier – a thin, silent layer that stops anything reaching your clothes. No crinkle, no rustle, no plastic sound when you walk.
- Bamboo body – 92% bamboo with 8% spandex. Cool against the skin, with a wide flat waistband that holds everything close and doesn’t roll down.
There is no pad, no liner and no bulk. Under leggings, a dress, jeans or a church suit, it reads as ordinary good-quality underwear — because that is what it is.

What it looks like on
Front, back, waistband and under clothes — so you know exactly what arrives.

No pad outline, no ridge through the seat, no line under leggings. It reads as ordinary good-quality underwear — because that is what it is.
What you get
- High-waisted, full-coverage brief in matte black
- 92% bamboo, 8% spandex with a four-layer protective gusset
- Sizes S to XL — honest cm measurements in the size chart
- Reusable: machine wash at 30°C, made to last 100+ washes
- Ships in plain packaging, with nothing written on the outside
How to wash it
Treat it like your normal underwear — with three small rules.
- Wash before first wear. New fabric carries a light factory finish; one wash clears it, and absorbency reaches full strength after two or three.
- 30°C on a gentle cycle, in with your usual load. Never hot — heat is what damages the core.
- No fabric softener, no bleach, no tumble dryer, no ironing. Softener coats the fibres and stops the core absorbing.
- Dry inside out on the line. About half a day in the sun; longer indoors.

Choose your pack

One brief lasts 100+ washes, so most people buy a pack and rotate through the week rather
than replacing pads every month. Choose your pack and size above — the price updates as
you pick.
| Pack | Price | Per brief | You save |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single brief | R498 | R498 | — |
| 3-pack buy 2, get 1 free | R996 | R332 | R498 (one free) |
| 4-pack most popular | R1,196 | R299 | R796 (40% off) |
The 4-pack works out at R299 a brief — roughly the price of two months of liners, for something you wash and wear for years.
Before you choose a size
Underwear is a hygiene product, so we cannot exchange sizes once an order has been delivered. That makes the size chart worth thirty seconds of your time: measure in centimetres, and if you are between two sizes, take the larger one. If you are unsure, message us before you order and we will help you get it right the first time. Anything faulty or wrongly sent is replaced at our cost.
Supplied by Calm Wear, South Africa.
How to size your Calm Wear brief
One measurement decides your size: your waist, not your hips. On a high-waist brief the
waistband is what holds everything in place, so that is what we size on. Wrap a tape around
your middle just below the belly button, where a belt normally sits, and keep it level and
comfortable rather than pulled tight.
| Size | Waist (cm) | Usual size (SA / UK) |
|---|---|---|
| S | 68–77 | 32–34 / 8–10 |
| M | 78–92 | 36–38 / 12–14 |
| L | 93–100 | 40 / 16 |
| XL | 101–108 | 42–44 / 18–20 |
The ranges do not overlap, so your measurement lands on exactly one size. If you sit on the
edge of two, or you are unsure, send us your waist measurement before you order and we will
confirm the right one for you.
Snug is right, tight is wrong. The high waist is cut to stay put, not to compress, and the
fabric already allows for stretch in the chart above.
For the mom who says she’s just tired

She will never buy these herself. You know that. So don’t make it a talk — make it a parcel. Her size, a plain bag, nothing said. A 4-pack covers a week, which is usually what it takes before someone stops keeping a pad in her bag “just in case”.
The maths: what pads or disposable pants cost you in a year

A pad costs a few rand and disappears by lunchtime. A brief costs more once and then keeps working for years — so the comparison only makes sense over months, not a single shop. Here is the arithmetic, on ordinary numbers:
| Disposables | Calm Wear 4-pack | |
|---|---|---|
| What you buy | 3 pads, liners or disposable pants a day | 4 briefs, washed and reused |
| Cost per day | R15 | About R0.50 in washing |
| Cost per month | R450 | R1,196 once, then washing only |
| Cost per year | R5,400 — every year | R1,196 in year one, then just washes |
| After 12 months | R5,400 spent, nothing kept | R4,204 better off |
The pack pays for itself in about 11 weeks of the pads you are not buying. After that it is money you keep — roughly R5,400 a year, or R16,200 over three years, for something that already lives in your washing machine.
Work it out on your own numbers
Two numbers are all you need: how many pads you get through on a normal day, and what you pay for them. Multiply by 30 for a month, then by 12 for a year. If you use four a day instead of three, the yearly figure is closer to R7,200; if you only need them on some days, it will be lower — either way the pack is a one-off.
What we are not claiming: these figures assume 3 pads a day at R5 each and 30 days a month, and they leave out the cost of hot water and detergent — a 30°C wash is cents, but it is not nothing. Your usage, your local prices and your electricity tariff will move the numbers. The shape of the comparison does not change: disposables are a monthly bill, these are a purchase.
A 4-pack is the size that makes the maths work — four briefs means one in the wash, one on, and spares for the days that go sideways.
